Stretchy Pants Forever

When Stinky was a baby we had some friends over for dinner and the wife said, "Whoa you look amazing!" I had been back to my pre-pregnancy weight for AGES at that point and I was like, "Well...he was was born five months ago." Like, hello, who WOULDN'T be all skinny again at 5 months post partum?

I want to punch that Kayla in the face.

  1. Ha ha. Oh man, I feel totally cheated out of that whole experience of losing baby weight quickly. It isn't that I've had four kids, it isn't that I am no longer in my twenties…I just don't recover well from pregnancy. I had Gwen at 21, and despite working out hard and dieting I kept 20 lbs from that pregnancy, and still have it today. If it is any consolation at all, you look beautiful, as always!

  2. I know that feeling. I'm actually back down five pounds below my pre-pregnancy weight this time, but I do not recommend my regime. 1) Have a baby allergic to wheat, dairy, eggs, peanuts, and almonds, and avoid eating all of these foods so that he doesn't get sick. 2) Get bored by what you can eat and eat less in general, even though you're still hungry. 3) Get pneumonia and eat almost nothing for a week. 4) Get stomach flu twice in one winter. 5) Get some mystery ailment that causes all sorts of digestive issues and continued weight loss.

But hey, I can fit into my skinniest pants.

I have found, though, that it takes me longer each time to lose the weight (this time excepted). With my first, it was six months. With my second, nine. My third took a whole year. And I have to accept that I'm probably going to retain (or regain after I've lost it) five or ten pounds each time, and that's okay.

  5. Ha! There are a lot of past moments where I want to punch myself in the face (or at least a hard slap). Specifically, when Young Chalayn got her first bra: I told my mom that I was worried that they would "never stop growing." My boobs quickly showed me that I had nothing to fear.
