28

A few weeks ago I skulked into the office.

"Aaron...I want a food processor."

A couple years ago he bought me a Vitamix for Christmas. For that very same Christmas his parents gave us a food processor. In our infinite wisdom, Aaron and I assumed we didn't need both (they do the same thing, right?) so we exchanged the food processor for some other kitchen stuff we needed.

As it turns out, they don't do the same thing. It has taken me two years to admit my folly in returning my in-laws' generous gift.

"Amazon has some...they're just under $100." I flopped into his extra office chair.

"I know, $95 right?"

I cocked an eyebrow.

"I was going to get you one for your birthday tomorrow."

The man, he knows me.

You know you're getting old when you get a small kitchen appliance for your birthday and you like it.

(Also, this is the second time in two months that I've written "I love you" on a picture of an appliance. Should Aaron be worried?)

  1. Lol, I love it! The boyfriend got me a cast iron dutch oven for Christmas and it was my favorite gift. Aaron won't complain...after all, you use the appliances to cook for him. It's the gift that keeps on giving. :)

  4. Happy Birthday! I love my Cusinart, and I've been pining for a Vitamix. It strikes me as kind of amusing that you were doing the same just for the opposite appliance.

  5. Awww! That's sweet. He doesn't need to worry, and I'm sorry I'm the one who has to break this to you but, appliances could never love you back... Clear the Way

  6. I totally get it. I just graduated and when asked what I wanted for a grad present I was set on a blender. I didn't get it. =[ But I think I am going to go out soon and buy one for myself. Kitchen appliances make life so much easier. Men on the other hand not so much, but they have there other perks. I don't think Aaron needs to be too worried.
