To be honest, this one was hard for me.
A couple people will probably leave my blog never to return after they read the blasphemy about to pour from my fingers (farewell, friends, I will miss you), but I have a confession:
I don't love leopard print.
I mean, it's fine, but I loved leopard print when I was 15 then moved on and it hasn't been gone long enough for me to miss it.

Been there, done that, got the hat. (Hi Laura!) |
I finally just had to give the silhouette a go because my closet was offering no other options.

Thrifted belt and shoes, skirt from a dress I chopped up, ATL shirt, necklace from my mom, cuff from a trip to the Bahamas when I was in high school. Please note the Stinky arm. |
I didn't love it. To be fair, I would have hated anything I wore that day. I had a food baby that wouldn't go away, a massive cheekbone zit that is mercifully hidden by my sunglasses, and my eyebrows were launching an attack on the rest of my face (still are, actually). Totally reminded me of being 15. Which is when I last wore leopard print. Very appropriate.
And, on that cheery note, check out Amy's and Erica's interpretations then link up below!

I was wondering if I were the only one not to love leopard print these days!
ReplyDeleteNope! Not just you :)
DeleteHaha! When leopard was cool last, my 15-year-old self thought that it was kind of trashy, or just old. This is probably due to my grandma (on my dad's side) who wore it all.the.time. Maybe that's why I've been so hesitant to actually take the leap and add any to my wardrobe. I think I might try it with an accessory though...I doubt that I'll ever go all the way to an article of real clothing.
ReplyDeleteHaha! It took me a while to embrace it in high school for the same reason. I kind of thought leopard print was just for trashy lingerie. I feel like it's taken a turn for the classy with this round though! An accessory would be a good way to go. Janssen has leopard print flats that I think are perfect.
DeleteBut your hair looks amazing! I also don't love leopard print, there's just too much of it out there.
ReplyDeleteThank you! I think I'm having a good hair year.
DeleteI have to tell you how much I love your hair in this pic. Is it your natural color? How can I get it?!
ReplyDeleteNope, not my natural color! It's Garnier Hot Tamale. It looks overwhelming on the box but it's not too crazy. I love it!
DeleteI really like the red skirt, and it's great that you have a red belt to match! I have to say I'm a fan of leopard prints (on shoes and accessories) and polka dots. you did a good job on the silhouette for this OTI!
ReplyDeleteHa, I generally love leopard print on other people but every time I try it on I just look silly. I kind of love the red & gray combo you came up with though, and the little arm sneaking into the picture on the right ;)
ReplyDeleteYes, a whole shirt of leopard print? Not for me.
ReplyDeleteI'm not much a of a leopard print fan either. But hey, when my bff comes striding up the walkway in her new leopard print skinny jeans I tell her I love 'em like i love the old brett michaels.
ReplyDeleteI am so loving the finger pointing going on in that picture! I've always got an edge of a shirt, a foot, a hand, and sometimes and entire child in my photos, haha!
ReplyDeletelove your interpretation of my outfit - i'm such a sucker for flowy silhouettes. and don't worry about the leopard, i have the same problem with zebra print. oh my dear lord, i just think it's so tacky! and combine it with hot pink? kill me.
