I originally tried red but the end result was awful. I looked like an honest-to-goodness lion tamer or maybe a ring master. The effect was very circus-like. I was so very tempted by all the blue and gray in my closet but finally pulled out almost every single yellow thing I own and it worked (Aaron loved it).
Also, say hello to my fancy studio! And by fancy I mean a piece of fabric tacked up in my sewing room. The ideal time for me to take outfit photos is while my kids are napping but that's like high noon (which is the worst possible time to take pictures). So Aaron helped me rig up a little studio space for when naptime weather didn't cooperate and allow me to take my challenge pictures outside. It'll be making a few more appearances. It may not be pretty but it works!
Also, I am already woefully behind. I commented on all of TWO blogs yesterday in the 3 minutes I had to sit down at my computer. But from what I've seen of the thumbnails yesterday it looks like you guys are doing awesome! Hopefully nap time will go a little better today so I'll get a chance to sit down and take a real look.

I think I'll have to set up my own little photo studio. My ideal picture time is usually when it's dark out. This yellow look is lovely, and I really want a tutorial on that skirt.
ReplyDeleteI love the yellow on you! That skirt is amazing!! I had to take indoor pics too...digging your sheet idea!

ReplyDeleteUsually, the office works okay (not great), but it has been so gray this week that nowhere indoors really works. And there is snow on the ground, so outside is a no-go, too. My pics are subpar, unfortunately.
This is charming and adorable. Love the shoes! And the thrifted scarf--is that a horse? Fun!
ReplyDeleteYellow and chevron? LOVE.
ReplyDeleteLove all your yellow together! You look great.
ReplyDeleteThis outfit is so bright and cheerful! I love it! That skirt is amazing!
ReplyDeleteI think the 'studio' is a great idea, looks pretty nice actually. Love the outfit you put together. I didn't quite manage to put together a completely monochromatic look because I kept just looking like a clown. Yours turned out lovely.

Yellow looks so great on you! I love how the patterns liven up the whole look :)
ReplyDeleteYour comment was so sweet!!!!!! I love the yellow, too. I was thinking about yellow, but I sadly realized I own very little of it. I love bright colors in the middle of winter - especially on cloudy rainy days (like we are having here right now). I love your challenges - I don't know how I get dressed without them :)
ReplyDeleteYou look like a dose of sunshine! I love it!
ReplyDeleteYour study in yellow is awesome! Naturally I would choose red, which is REALLY difficult to photograph!!! Ugh!
ReplyDeleteYou look so bright and cheery! I love that skirt and the shirt. They are such a lovely combination. I need to learn to sew. I am jealous of your handmade skirt as well.
ReplyDeleteI love the bold pattern on the skirt!
ReplyDeleteI love everything about this outfit! How fun to do monochromatic in such a bright color! You've got me thinking now, Kayla...!
ReplyDeleteI love your yellow skirt! As soon as I find a fabric like that I must make my own!
ReplyDeleteLove, love this yellow outfit! What a burst of color to brighten a gloomy day. My look is here (on flickr, too) - http://acaliforniawifey.blogspot.com/2012/01/winter-challenge-day-2-monochrome.html

ReplyDeleteI really truly love that skirt, if I could I would buy one for myself.
I just love the pattern on your skirt.
ReplyDeleteI love your skirt! Where do you find those beautiful chevron patterns? I've found some online, but they're always home decor fabrics.
