21 Day Challenge: Day 3 > Mix patterns

Quick matter of business-

My original plan was to visit each and every one of your posts throughout the challenge and leave comments and generally make a serious effort to get to know all the participants. And THEN there were 81 submissions on the very first day of the remix party (I checked just now and we're up to 90!). Which does not include the Flickr group.

So, basically, I have my hands incredibly full just trying to keep track of points while also continuing to keep my children fed and my hair in a relative state of cleanliness. I AM visiting all of your blogs but please forgive me if I'm not commenting like I wanted! You guys are fantastic and I have been so impressed by what I've seen so far!

Returning to our regularly scheduled programming-

Ah, pattern mixing. Some girls go at it with gusto while some hide in the corner, whimpering (that would be me). But you can do it, I promise!

Need inspiration? I suggest searching "pattern mixing" on Pinterest. OR, lucky for you, EBEW this month was pattern mixing. Go check it out, there's tons of helpful images!

If this one scares the pee out of you, may I suggest you start with stripes? Technically they're a pattern, but to me they've become a kind of neutral. You can mix just about anything with stripes.

See what I mean?

I know this is a guy, but I love this mix.

Also, if you get stuck, you can always throw in a patterned accessory and call it good! It totally counts.

Post your pictures in the Flickr group or blog it and come back here tomorrow to link it up!

  1. I skipped out on the EBEW patter mixing challenge because I'm challenged when it comes to mixing patterns! But I think I just might have to step out of my corner and give it a try...just for you! :)
If you don't see me linked up tomorrow you'll know it was an epic fail.

  6. Ah this looks so exciting! I want to get started on a challenge like this...and yes, stripes have practically become a neutral, but they still scare me too :/ And I'm always nervous they're unflattering, even when deep inside I know they're not :)

  7. YUCK to mixing patterns...I don't like this part of the challenge. The other ideas have been fun.

  8. Hmm...I really don't know if I can do this tomorrow. I will have to have a long, serious convo with the closet and see if I have anything. I'm kind of a plain Jane. But my hubby, he has stripes and plaids galore! Maybe I'll just dress him tomorrow instead. :)

  9. Ok, so for whatever reason when I go to reply to a comment on my blog it sends me an email notification, not you! So I'll just reply here!
YAY!!!! I'm so glad you got the bangs and you love them! Blog about them so that others may see their awesomeness! And I just might take you up on that next baby thing... ;)
