Thrifted muumuu (altered), thrifted belt, Old Navy necklace, gifted necklace |
I've mentioned this muumuu before but couldn't bring myself to post a picture. Some things are just too special, ya know?

There's some weird color going on here. It's actually quite purple. |
I bought it for Halloween 2009 while I was pregnant with Baby 2 but secretly wished I could wear it all the time. Aaron loudly and vehemently declared that I would be out of luck in the booty department forever if this dress ever saw the light of day again because he found it so horrifically unattractive.
I took it in and added elastic at the waist in hopes that it would change Aaron's mind. No luck.
So it has sat in the back of my closet for over a year. I take it out periodically and wear it around the house while Aaron makes loud gagging noises and I passionately defend it and then we end up all squinty eyed at each other over a muumuu and I have to decide who I love more.
Unfortunately, Aaron wins every time, darn him, and the muumuu goes back to the dark recesses for another few months. One of these days he'll come around...

I LOVE this muu muu. I would wear it all the time. Hopefully when I ever get married my husband won't be opposed to the muu muus I've already acquired.
ReplyDeleteOh, it's such a pretty color! I think it's really cute, actually... it doesn't look that muumuu-ish, because it's not a nasty, faded blue or something equally sad and depressing (and muumuu-ish).
ReplyDeleteThis post made me laugh, though. Booty department. Squinty eyes. Gagging. Sigh... :)
ah
ReplyDeleteNO
I love it. I love that color.
Love it! Great colors!
ReplyDeleteDoes he not like the shape? The print? The color? Or the fact that it's a muumuu? It looks like a breezy maxi dress to me, with a big floral print. SO...what's his deal? ;)

Hahaaaa! I have 6 muumuus. I wear at least 3 a week. Toph LOVES them, old lady fetish.
ReplyDeleteLove it! Also, your post posted right next to Kendi's from Kendi everyday in my google reader and you are both sporting some pretty awesome and similar muumuus. Love it.
ReplyDeleteWell I love it! I'd totally snatch that up if I found it in a thrift store!
ReplyDeleteI love this muumuu it looks so cute with the belt:>
ReplyDeletehahaha. i think it's pretty cute. clint would never stop making fun of me if i wore a muumuu, but i still consider it from time to time...
ReplyDeleteYou need to show us your husband. You talk about him, but I don't know what to picture. Such a funny story! Wear what you want girlfriend!

check out my button swap!
wow, you really can rock a muumuu. i have never met your husband, but i think it would be a pretty close decision cause this dress is amazing! and i think you look fabulous in it!
ReplyDeleteI generally think of Aaron as a smart man. I mean, he married you. But when it comes to clothes, sometimes I can't help but think that is not so smart after all.
ReplyDeleteNorth Meets South

Your husband not liking this muumuu (awesome word) is a mystery to me. The color is so great and the pattern is so spring-y and happy! Perfection!

There is nothing shameful about that dress! I'd love for you to submit it to the thrifting link up I host each week on my blog!

I know the argument well. For example, I bought my very first Maxi dress last week. I was excited. I've always wanted one but didn't think I had the build for it. Inspired by the way you rock yours and the fact that pregnant it won't matter because anything that fits is suddenly golden, I found a steal on one at TJ Maxx. I love it. Josh hates it. He both called it a glorified bath robe and a ball gown. I was confused, but he asked me a few times if I was seriously going to wear it. Sigh. I did wear it. I love it. Now I need to figure out what to do about the man.
ReplyDeletethat dress reminds of the mom that used to carpool me to school in the mornings
ReplyDeleteshe had a collection of them
she never bothered to belt them that's for sure
i always thought she was so glamorous in her mu mu and her full face at 7:00am every morning.
I think you've done a great job of altering it to fit you...I also think it still looks like a muumuu. I'm going to have to sit on the fence with this one.
ReplyDeleteNicole said what I was thinking exactly. I think you could de-mummufy it by shortening it. Then again, that might ruin half of the flowy fun.
ReplyDeleteWell I absolutely love your outfit, my friend and I always joke that if her husband doesn't like her outfit it must be fantastic!!!!
ReplyDeleteYou can rock the muumuu. I am guessing that he can't get past the fact that it was a muumuu in its former life?
ReplyDeleteI don't think he'll ever get past his dislike of it. My husband has hatred towards a pair of boots I wear in the winter. That I love. He makes sure to remind me how much he loathes them every. single. time. they are on my feet. I tell him that its a good thing he's not wearing them, then.
I really enjoy the "I'm satisfied with myself" look you have in the second picture. You're beaming in that "dress"! Wear it.
