I hate discussing politics and "issues." It gets too heated and confrontational most of the time and I do. not. like. confrontation. So I thought long and hard before posting this but ultimately decided to share because this article made me bawl. These guys originally planned on only adopting one kid and ended up with twelve. It may be an unconventional home but it sounds like a really loving one.

Thank you for deciding to post it anyways. This is a beautiful story, and I'm so glad you shared it.
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely story. I can't imagine taking on 12 kids, but they seem really happy.
ReplyDeleteI read that article in the paper and shared it with my husband too because I was so touched by it and the love the men have for all those kids who otherwise probably wouldn't have the opportunity to have such a loving family. Those men truly cherish their children.
ReplyDeleteBeing an adoptive parent is hard. Being a foster parent is harder. I have an aunt and uncle that have adopted six or seven, all the "throw away kids" (meaning no one else would take them, for the same reasons in the article: biracial, anger, behavior, disability) and have seen first hand the love as well as the difficulty. Stories like this make me want to be a better mom. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteThat is amazing! I'm not going to lie either, my eyes got a bit watery reading that!
ReplyDeleteAnd I'm with you on not being confrontational. I usually only talk about opinionated things with my husband.
You can always turn off comments if you're worried about people getting confrontational. But seriously I'm glad you didn't because then I couldn't THANK you for sharing this very touching article. What a beautiful family. There are so many amazing kids that need homes, and so few people who are willing to open their homes to them because of all the reasons mentioned in the article. These dads seem to have hearts of gold (not to mention tons of patience). I am so moved by their example!
ReplyDeleteThank you for taking the plunge. Great article.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for sharing this! I understand how difficult it is to post about something controversial - but I'm so glad you did! I think that's one of the best ways to be brave and help make a difference! PS love your blog! :)
ReplyDeleteWhat amazing hearts those men have. To be so full of love and compassion is incredible.
