Spring Skirt Number...6? I Think? I'm Losing Count Here, People.

NY&Co shirt, skirt by me, thrifted shoes, earrings were a gift, bracelet is cord left over from this little project

This skirt kind of made me see the light. Why do I even bother with other skirts when there are quick and easy circle skirts to be made??

This is the best part

It probably helps a lot that this fabric, whatever it is (a cotton/poly?), was a dream to sew with. I thought the hem would be a beast but it was my easiest one to date. The wrinkles fell out with a tiny touch from the iron. It held up perfectly in the wash. Too bad it was a remnant at SAS or else I'd be going back for way more in as many colors as I could find.

Also, local people, did you know that SAS has elastic? And not just any elastic. Colored elastic! Striped elastic! Thick and thin elastic! Elastic lace! I found a couple great ones while I was there this week. This one matches my skirt so well and, bonus, it was like 50 cents. Loooove.

  7. I grew up in Phoenix (and moved far, far, far away after I graduated from ASU) but we were huge sewers in my family. I miss SAS and digging through all of those fabric piles. It was exciting for me because I used to visualize how I would use each piece of fabric when I picked it up. It was so much fun to sew all of my own dresses and skirts. I love reading your blog, btw. All the sewing posts remind me of childhood growing up there. I don't sew anymore but it used to be a huge part of my life.

  9. Madeline- SAS is a local fabric store that's mostly factory remnants and stuff...it's sold by the pound and the yard and it's all super cheap. It's awesome!

  16. I'm making a dress right now that's going to have these colors in the exact same way... I questioned this for a while thinking the blue bodice and yellow skirt would be too bold, but once I saw your pictures I realized it's a great color combo and waaaay cute. Thanks :)
