Me and Stinky in 2008. Holy cow I was yooooung |
I never really liked kids. I hated babysitting. Other people's children annoyed me. I was fairly certain I might want kids some day but I was not married to the idea. I just sort of hoped I could find it in myself to like my own kids.
And then Stinky was born. And I discovered this incredible, deep-seated mother's heart. And Baby 2's birth took it to a whole other level. I am that Mama Bear that yells at big kids at the park because they rode their bikes too close. I am that sap who watches her babies sleep. I am that sentimental fool who freaks out when she realizes her kids just keep getting older and there's no way to keep them tiny and snuggly for a little bit longer.
My babies are my reason for breathing. Some days are long, hard, and filled with poop but I wouldn't give up this job for anything.

In the hospital with Baby 2 (this pic gives me butterflies. There is NOTHING like those first few days with your new baby) |
*both my kids now call me Ma. Combine that with Stinky calling Aaron by his first name and we are the epitome of class around here.
Can we talk about how you look amazing in the hospital!!! Your boys are so sweet and I know just what you mean...I never could have fathomed how much I'd love him. Hope you had a wonderful and restful Mother's Day!
ReplyDeleteMy 3 year old calls me "ma", too! So funny. And I feel the exact same way about other people's kids, not so exciting. But my own babies? All-consuming LOVE. Happy mother's day!
ReplyDeleteYour post just described me to a tee! lol Happy Ma's Day to you! =)
ReplyDeleteaww happy mama's day!
ReplyDeleteLove these photos and yes the first few hours are the best!
ReplyDeleteHappy M day! I felt the same way about kids once upon a time. To take it even further, I didn't even want my own. Today, I have three, and I couldn't be happier! :0)
ReplyDeleteAmen. SO amen.
ReplyDeleteSuch a sweet little post. I'd love to hear more about your journey to motherhood in a future post someday!
ReplyDeleteWhatever kind of magic they were pumping into your IV - I'm requesting that next time around! You looked great! I never thought I wanted kids of my own, even when the hubs and I were engaged. Guess Heavenly Father gave my instincts a kick in the right direction. :)
