eShakti Review

Ever since I first heard of eShakti I was in love with the idea behind the business. You can order clothing normally by size or, for a small fee, get it customized. You can add sleeves, lower a hemline, raise a neckline, get something custom made for your measurements. Great idea, right? Especially if you're trying to stay a bit more covered.

But then I ordered a few things from them and wasn't really impressed. Ages ago I mentioned in a post that my experience with eShakti had been hit and miss. And, if we're being honest, it had been more miss than hit and I decided I was over it.

Then, a few months ago, I got an e-mail from an eShakti rep saying they found my blog through a Google search and wanted a shot at changing my mind. I said sure, why not.

To make a long, boring story short, a nonworking link, a couple unanswered e-mails and two months went by and I wrote them off all over again.

And then, much to my surprise, I heard from them again and they finally shipped me my dress. Except, even though I gave them my current address, they shipped it to my old address, which must have been on file from my previous orders. Fortunately, the package eventually made it to my friend's house down the street (thanks, Becky!) and I was able to go pick it up.

So, you could maybe imagine why my hopes were not particularly high for this dress.

But then-

Ignore the crazy face.

I love it. The color is perfect and saturated (and totally MY color). The dress is fully lined and substantial. The fabric feels lovely (at family dinner my mom and grandma and I were all oohing over it).

Plus, POCKETS. My chapstick never has to leave my side.

Aaron commented that it looks like a really nice dress. Rather than order by size, I gave them my measurements and the fit is just about perfect, which is rare for me because my shape is weird (I have no waist). The neckline was initially a smidge too low (which I would have had them alter but I didn't know until it arrived. It's so hard to tell from pictures of just the item and not on a model) but I easily fixed it in 2 minutes by moving the shoulder buttons.

I am a little sad that this particular dress didn't have the option of adding sleeves. I assume it's because of the button detail on the shoulders. A lot of their other dresses do have the option though.

I'm super nervous that the dress I ordered will be a miss. And I'll ruin wedding pictures. I'm just crossing my fingers!

  8. Very cute. I hate though when I have to hide cute parts of the dress with a cardigan. Argh. And yes, I love the balsamic chicken. I've shared the love with my family and they are now converts as well.
