|Wearing # 15, 23, 26 Watch from my sis, necklace from a little mall kiosk. Please ignore the awkward pose and my long monkey arms.|
Love this outfit. There's just something about navy paired with white that speaks to me. Although, it was a little weird wearing a dress under a skirt.
For the first time in YEARS I got to watch the entire Oscars shebang last night- red carpet and all! My mom and I are big time movie lovers. Or, at least, I used to be before I birthed two darling little time-sucks. I used to make a point of seeing as many of the nominees as possible but this year I had only seen like four. Sad. But I still really enjoyed it. I just love the magic and history of Hollywood!
And I have to talk about the gowns. Even if I wasn't a fashion blogger I'd still probably be writing about them today. A TRUE fashion blogger would have pictures but you have to pay to get them from the source and I feel guilty stealing them from people who actually did pay for them. You can view all the arrival and ceremony pictures over at Getty Images.
-The only dress I didn't really love was Cate Blanchett's. But, because she is Cate, she pulled it off anyway- armchair fashion critic opinions be darned!
-Lots of red. Loved it. Especially on Jennifer Lawrence. And Anne Hathaway.
-Gwyneth's hair and skin look fried but I loved her dress.
-The only person who could pull off the draping on Nicole Kidman's dress is Nicole Kidman.
-My mom and I couldn't stop talking about how much we love Reese Witherspoon. She is too darling for words. Also, does anyone else always expect her to be a lot more bubbly than she really is? I'm always surprised when she's not more Elle Woods in real life.
-SO many conservative gorgeous dresses! Annette Bening, Amy Adams, and Michelle Williams all rocked the sleeved dresses with higher necklines and lots of sparkle. Also, we love that Annette Bening is aging like a normal human being.
-I wanted to love Marisa Tomei's dress but it didn't fit her quite right. Wrong body type for a 1950's vintage dress, but isn't that what tailors are for?
-Halle Berry should never change her hair.
-Whoever has been dressing Natalie Portman deserves their own special award.
-Sparkly nude is the new safe choice. Gorgeous, but it's becoming like black for me.
-And, lastly, Anne Hathaway knocked it out of the park. Repeatedly. Bravo, Princess Mia.
AND! Where was Marion Cotillard? And Angelina Jolie?
I could keep talking but this already turned out 3 times longer than I meant it to. Did you watch? What were your favorites? And were you as nervous about Mila Kunis's dress as we were?
